Facility & Track Rules

The Pikes Peak RC Arena is a spec tire facility, only tires allowed will be the pre mounted Pikes Peak RC Arena branded tires specified in the class descriptions below. 
Pikes Peak RC Arena branded tires are only available for purchase at Pikes Peak RC Arena. 
 
 

  • Safety is our first priority! If you see something that is unsafe, please report it to the Race Director immediately. 

  • All participants must pay for practice and racing prior to placing your vehicles on the track.

  • Pikes Peak RC Arena is a ROAR & RM28SA sanctioned track. Roar & RM28SA rules apply. If a rule differs from those sanctioning bodies, it will be underlined in the class description.

  • It is not required to be a ROAR member to use the facility.

  • No 1/8 scale or short course vehicles allowed on the track at any time (2wd and 4wd). No 4wd stadium trucks allowed.

  • Race vehicles only, if it doesn't fit into one of the classes below, it's not allowed on the track.

  • Scheduled race day vehicles only. If on-road is scheduled for that day, no off-road vehicles are permitted on the track and vice versa.

  • Driving backwards on any of our tracks is prohibited.

  • Call out all wrecks on the straightaway so other drivers don't plow into you. 

  • Be courteous to other drivers and their vehicles. No Bashing, intentional crashing, or horseplay allowed.

  • No foul language. Children do not like to hear it! (And most of their parents!) Please keep it PG.

  • No alcohol is allowed in the building.

  • Smoking allowed in designated area only (out back).

  • Please help keep our facility clean by picking up after yourself. We have Trash cans throughout our facility. Please use them!

  • There will be a two (2)-minute grace period between heats. All racers must immediately put their cars and radios down and get into a turn marshal position within one (1) minute. If you are running back-to-back you must notify the Race Director and find a replacement marshal. Any racer who does not adhere to this rule will receive a one lap penalty in your next race. If you are unable to turn marshal, it is your responsibility to find a substitute to turn marshal for you and notify the Race Director on who it is. 

  • No open toed shoes allowed on the track (except for 28 scale day).

  • While turn marshaling, please watch your area of the track and not the race.

  • Do not yell at turn marshals! You are (Most likely) the reason your RC crashed and required a turn marshals help! Remember, they are there to help you! Be respectful to them!

  • Vehicles that are broken need to be removed from the track. Any driver that continues to drive on the track with a broken vehicle will be black flagged. This is to help protect our tracks! 

  • Using reverse during a race is illegal (except for 28 scale). Let the turn marshal help you out.

  • If you are not racing or practicing, please do not enter the driver’s stand.

  • No children under the age of 8 are allowed to turn marshal. No children under the age of 10 are allowed to turn marshal Mod or 13.5 pan car.

  • No Food or Drinks are allowed on the Tracks or Driver Stand.

  • Our Race Directors are in charge and have a final say in any decision made. Please respect their decision.

  • Only tire sauce allowed is the regular SXT 3.0, light and max is not allowed. 

  • Batteries must be charged at less than 15 amps.

1/10 Scale Off-Road
All Off-Road classes abide by ROAR rules except these specific differences.​
  • All Off-Road classes are spec tire, classes must use the approved Pikes Peak RC Arena branded tires listed in the class descriptions.
  • Chassis protectors are mandatory on all Off-Road vehicles!

  • Front and rear shock tower covers are mandatory on all Off-Road vehicles!

 2WD 21.5 Buggy - Stock

  • Chassis - Any 1/10th 2wd buggy that meets ROAR specs is allowed  

  • Motor - Any ROAR approved stock / 21.5, motor is allowed

  • ESC - Any ROAR approved Non-Timing ESC (Must be in Blinky Mode)

  • Batteries - Any ROAR approved 2-cell hard case LiPo battery is allowed, max of 8.4 volts

  • Tires - Only Tire allowed is the Pikes Peak RC Arena branded Fuzz Bite, tires are only available for purchase at Pikes Peak RC Arena.  

  • Bodies - Any 2wd buggy body intended for the class

  • Weight - Must weigh a minimum of 1474 grams

 2WD 17.5 Buggy - Stock       

  • Chassis - Any 1/10th 2wd buggy that meets ROAR specs is allowed  

  • Motor - Any ROAR approved stock / 17.5, motor is allowed 

  • ESC - Any ROAR approved Non-Timing ESC (Must be in Blinky Mode)

  • Batteries - Any ROAR approved 2-cell hard case LiPo battery is allowed, max of 8.4 volts

  • Tires - Only Tire allowed is the Pikes Peak RC Arena branded Fuzz Bite, tires are only available for purchase at Pikes Peak RC Arena. 

  • Bodies - Any 2wd buggy body intended for the class

  • Weight - Must weigh a minimum of 1474 grams

 2WD 17.5 Expert Buggy - Stock       

  • Chassis - Any 1/10th 2wd buggy that meets ROAR specs is allowed  

  • Motor - Any ROAR approved stock / 17.5, motor is allowed 

  • ESC - Any ROAR approved Non-Timing ESC (Must be in Blinky Mode)

  • Batteries - Any ROAR approved 2-cell hard case LiPo battery is allowed, max of 8.4 volts

  • Tires - Only Tire allowed is the Pikes Peak RC Arena branded Fuzz Bite, tires are only available for purchase at Pikes Peak RC Arena. 

  • Bodies - Any 2wd buggy body intended for the class

  • Weight - Must weigh a minimum of 1474 grams

 2WD 13.5 Stadium Truck - Stock       

  • Chassis - Any 1/10th 2wd stadium truck that meets ROAR specs is allowed  

  • Motor - Any ROAR approved stock / 13.5, motor is allowed 

  • ESC - Any ROAR approved Non-Timing ESC (Must be in Blinky Mode)

  • Batteries - Any ROAR approved 2-cell hard case LiPo battery is allowed, max of 8.4 volts

  • Tires - Pikes Peak RC Arena spec tire (to be determined

  • Bodies - Any 2wd stadium truck body intended for the class

  • Weight - Must weigh a minimum of 1701 grams

  • Chassis - Any 1/10th 4wd buggy that meets roar specs is allowed  

  • Motor - Any ROAR approved stock / 13.5 motor is allowed 

  • ESC - Any ROAR approved Non-Timing ESC (Must be in Blinky Mode)

  • Batteries - Any ROAR approved 2-cell hard case LiPo battery is allowed, max of 8.4 volts

  • Tires - Pikes Peak RC Arena spec tire (to be determined

  • Bodies - Any 4wd buggy body intended for the class

  • Weight - Must weigh a minimum of 1588 grams

 2WD Modified Buggy (only ran at big events)       

  • Chassis - Any 1/10th 2wd buggy that meets roar specs is allowed  

  • Motor - Any ROAR approved 540 size motor is allowed 

  • ESC - Any ROAR approved ESC is allowed

  • Batteries - Any ROAR approved 2-cell hard case LiPo battery is allowed, max of 8.4 volts

  • Tires - Only Tire allowed is the Pikes Peak RC Arena branded Fuzz Bite, tires are only available for purchase at Pikes Peak RC Arena. 

  • Bodies - Any 2WD buggy body intended for the class

  • Weight - Must weigh a minimum of 1474 grams

1/10, 1/12 Scale On-Road
All On-Road classes (except 4-Tec) abide by ROAR rules except these specific differences.
  • GT 12 will use the ???????? spec tire
  • All On-Road classes are spec tire, classes must use the approved Pikes Peak RC Arena branded tires listed in the class descriptions. ​​​
  • Only tire sauce allowed is the regular SXT 3.0, light and max is not allowed.

 Box Stock 4-Tec

  • Chassis - 1/10 Scale 4-Tec 2.0 Brushless AWD Chassis only - (TRA83124)

  • Radio / Receiver - Kit included Traxxas radio and receiver only - (TRA6516 and TRA6519) 

  • Motor - Kit motor, Sensorless BL-2s™ 3300 kV motor only - (TRA3384)  

  • ESC - Kit ESC, BL-2s Brushless Electronic Speed Control only - (TRA3383)

    • ESC must be set up in race mode, Forward/Brake/No Reverse 

  • Batteries - Traxxas 7.4v 2-Cell LiPo Battery 5800, 5000 mAh and - (TRA2843X and TRA2842X)

    • Gens Ace G-Tech 7.4 2-cell LiPo battery 5300 mAh only, max of 8.4 volts - (GEA532S60T3GT and GEA532S60DGT)

  • Servo - Kit included Traxxas servo, metal gear set allowed and Traxxas high-speed / high-torque servo's only - (TRA2075/TRA2072X and TRA2075R, TRA3075X)

  • Tires - Kit Included tires only, tires can be prepped, and sidewall glued - (Front TRA8373, Rear TRA8374)

  • Gearing - Kit included pinion and spur 29/70 only - (TRA2429 / TRA8357)

  • Weight - Must weigh a minimum of ????? grams ????????????????

  • Bodies - VTA style body, spoilers cannot be added, body must be ran as manufacturer supplied it, approved bodies are 

    • ​HPI - HPI104926, HPI107201, HPI109930, HPI118010, HPI17531, HPI17546, HPI17519, HPI17526, 

    • PROTOform - PRM1579-30, PRM1558-40, PRM1562-40, PRM1552-40, PRM1535-30, PRM1526-00, PRM1594-00

    • Traxxas - TRA8311, TRA8386, TRA8312, TRA8391,   A, R, T, X variants of these body's are allowed

  • Ride Height - Minimum ride height must 5mm, front and rear. 

  • Option parts and modifications - Traxxas 4-Tec springs (TRA8362, TRA8363, TRA8364, TRA8365, TRA8366) and Traxxas spool (TRA8379) is allowed. Any manufacturers shock/diff oil is allowed. Adding weight via stick weights or tungsten putty is allowed. Adding fuel tubing or shims in the shock body and using Traxxas shock ride height spacers is allowed. Adding droop screws and droop screw enforcement under the screw is allowed. Cutting the springs and shock rod ends is allowed. Any geometry adjustments built into the kit (like changing shock positions in the predrilled holes, using included shock pistons) is allowed.  Absolutely no other modifications or upgrade parts are allowed!! If it's not listed here or included in the kit, ITS NOT ALLOWED!  

  • Brushed discontinued model (TRA83024) AWD Chassis, can be ran for the 2024 season

    • 25/70 gearing​ only

  • Must be ran box stock like the above kit. No upgrades allowed

 25.5 Touring Sedan       

  • Chassis - Any 1/10th 4wd Touring car that meets ROAR specs is allowed  

  • Motor - Any ROAR approved stock / 25.5 motor is allowed 

  • ESC - Any ROAR approved Non-Timing ESC (Must be in Blinky Mode)

  • Batteries - Any ROAR approved 2-cell hard case LiPo battery is allowed, max of 8.4 volts

  • Tires - Pikes Peak RC Arena spec tire (to be determined) 

  • Bodies - Any ROAR approved touring car sedan body intended for the class

  • Weight - Must weigh a minimum of 1320 grams

  • Chassis - Any 1/10th 4wd Touring car that meets ROAR specs is allowed  

  • Motor - Any ROAR approved stock / 21.5.5 motor is allowed 

  • ESC - Any ROAR approved Non-Timing ESC (Must be in Blinky Mode)

  • Batteries - Any ROAR approved 2-cell hard case LiPo battery is allowed, max of 8.4 volts

  • Tires - Pikes Peak RC Arena spec tire (to be determined

  • Bodies - Any ROAR approved touring car sedan body intended for the class

  • Weight - Must weigh a minimum of 1320 grams

  • Chassis - Any 1/10th Formula 1 one-piece axle chassis that meets ROAR specs is allowed  

  • Motor - Any ROAR approved stock / 25.5 motor is allowed 

  • ESC - Any ROAR approved Non-Timing ESC (Must be in Blinky Mode)

  • Batteries - Any ROAR approved 2-cell hard case LiPo battery is allowed, max of 8.4 volts

  • Tires - Pikes Peak RC Arena spec tire (to be determined

  • Bodies - Any CART, IRL, or Formula 1 body intended for the class

  • Weight - Must weigh a minimum of 1020 grams

  • Motor - Spec motor, only motor allowed is the USGT 21.5 spec motor (GRC2000)

  • Tires - Pikes Peak RC Arena spec tire (to be determined

  • Bodies - Any GT style production car bodies intended for the class, must weigh a minimum of 45 grams

  • Weight - Must weigh a minimum of 730 grams
